Spontinuity is the spice of life!

What a week eh? We got a voucher for Afternoon tea in Dromoland from a certain lovely maths teacher:) and we went on Wednesday! Got all dressed up and Granny, Nina, Doria and Ger came too:) Who knew afternoon tea can be so filling?! Filling but amazing It was more afternoon hot chocolate for myself and Nina; we are the more elite of the family of course, none of that TEA stuff for us ;) It was great fun though. :)

Ok, so we( the rents + I ) had talked about going on a long weekend away in Ireland, which didn't really enthuse me to be honest, but then last Tuesday ( at about half 6) Dad suggested taking a ferry over to England! :) I was like yuussss! Was packed and ready to go that night! We booked the ferry at midnight Tuesday and we planned going to Bath. Such a last minute thing, but that made it better! We didn't have time to think about it, we were just GOING. We had visited there last year and its really nice:) We got up at 4 am on Thursday to make our crossing from Roslare at 8 and reached Pembroke, Wales and in those short hours, I was free and out of the country! Who says I cant travel! Woke up on Friday morning and the sun was shining. We got the 'hop on hop off' city tour bus and went around the city:) We went to the Jane Austen museum and had Afternoon Tea and lunch :P Went to the fashion museum which was pretty cool :D Tried on a corset and a Victorian skirt which was as big as a tent and bought a Chanel book! It's so cool :) Did a bit of shopping too haha. Bath is a gorgeous city though, really relaxed and bright, I loved it. Our friends Dai, Carol, Sophie and Bailey Roberts came up to meet us in Bath for dinner and then we spent the day with them on Saturday in Glastonbury where they live, and stayed our last night near there. Got back home last night ( after- what is probably my last for a while- McDonalds :D) at half 10 and I WAS WRECKED. Still am today! I'm so lazy but hey, it's allowed! :P But on the overall look:
I Escaped this country
Walked around the city of Bath( way more than I'm used to)
Got some nice bits from River Island, Jack Wills and Gap (teehee!)
Found that I quite like scolops!
Nearly finished Lance Armstrong's first book (which is pretty great so far)

Even getting out of Ireland for a few days was exciting :D
Guess that's all about my spontanious week. Uncle Kieran from Canada is coming home Friday. Driving lessons on the agenda:)
P.S. Going to LADY GAGA. Will be epic. :)

Make it happen. Love, Ciara xxx

Inspired

Second Post!
This week so far has been great! I'm feeling really good, pain- little, mood- pretty good :D, optimism- class! The sun has also been gorge and hope it stays. I ordered some stuff off Amazon today: second half of Gossip Girl season 2 ( yes, I'm that far behind..), LiveStrong- inspiring stories from cancer survivors book and Lance Armstrong's book. Cant wait to get them. Today Doria and I went to town to do some errands, went to Penny's - got a skirt and top, and went to the park for sunshine, swings and icecream:)

Btw, I think it's about time I mentioned my 2 fabulous cousins Nina and Doria at this stage in the blog:P (They'll be expecting the recognition anyways haha) Well what to say? They're aMAZING, seriously. Don't want to fill their heads now but they have been so good to me and take my mind off me being sick, everything, when they arrive :) So much fun to be around and are closer than sisters would ever be, they treat me like there is no difference in our ages at all! Love them to bits and cant thank them enough for putting up with me and the epilogue of my life the past 3 years :) One big Thank You xx

So I've got 3 causes bracelets - from Sarah and Karen (thanks guys); gold for childhood cancer, white for bone cancer, and now the LiveStrong yellow bracelet for cancer :) And this week I feel really inspired, super positive and like I can do anything. I'm so positive when I look down at the yellow LiveStrong wristband ( attached to me now), its like the STRONG gives me a boost of strength. A few things have inspired me this week and I said I need to put these in my posts for sure.

At Barretstown I picked up a book Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul and it's a book of short stories. One of the stories I came across was about this legend Glenn Cunningham:) He was from Kansas and was in a gasoline explosion at his school when he was 8 in which his 10 year old brother died, and he was left with severe burns on his legs. Doctors told his parents they would have to amputate his legs but his parents pleaded to give their son 1 more day to heal. They said this for 2 months and put off the amputation. When his bandages were taken off, his leg injuries were terrible and things didn't look good, but he didn't have the amputation. He and his parents helped him recover at home and keep positive. He dragged himself around the fence at his home every day until he could walk, and eventually run. He became a great athlete and even won Olympic medals in the 1930's. He is known as one of the greatest athletes of the last century. He has totally inspired me, a child told he would never walk again and he was determined and became an amazing runner :)

Typical. Ive got writers block now :S Ive been waiting all day to write the blog and now I'm sitting with my hands on the keyboard waiting :) I'll post again, next time as soon as something pops into my head.

Make it happen. Love Ciara xx

New Beginning

I used to always keep a diary and sometimes I wish I still did:) This isn't going to be a minute by minute diary blog, but posts every now and then to say hey, give a wave and a wink;) and post about the new and improved happenings of me, Ciara C. I think the hardest part of starting this blog was choosing the name! I thought I had a clever name and then you check availability and TAKEN.
I guess I'll make a start and say at the moment I'm having at the very least, a fight in life, with life, but going strong:) I finished treatment for an osteosarcoma in my right knee April 4 '08 and made up for a crap year with a fantastic year and a half:) I started a new chapter in my life. A jam packed one! Between going to France, The Hole In The Wall Gang Camp in Connecticut , 3 mad weeks in the Gaeltacht, starting in a new class and year back at school (and making some unsightly good friends!), Lourdes, to New York :D, turning 15, France(again), gaeltacht(again!), Barretstown, meeting the roses of Tralee, Canteen outings etc all in the year and a half seems like a rollercoaster! I guess now getting myself better second time round will just have to have a guarantee of more fantastic experiences out of it.
Make it happen,
love Ciara
